Construction continues on the first phase of Alpine Village, which should be going vertical by the end of May – with the first steel shipment arriving by mid-month, and framing to begin immediately thereafter. Soon curious enthusiasts will be able to monitor progress on the project via a construction-site web cam!
On the recreational front, Brundage Mountain, for the first time ever, has extended its season into the month of May! Brundage says that it is inches away from breaking its all-time record for seasonal snowfall. According to the website, the official record was set in the winter of 1998/1999, when 430 inches of snow fell on the mountain. Right now, the running total is 422 inches. That makes this the second snowiest winter on record!
Although winter play continues to thrive, McCall’s spring/summer season is beginning to take shape with a variety of upcoming warm weather events. Tamarack’s award-winning golf course is set to open on Memorial Day weekend, along with all of its other fun summer activities, including last year’s addition: the zip line tour.
Jug Mountain Ranch will be celebrating the outdoors with a women’s fly fishing clinic on May 16-17 and June 6-7. The clinics, hosted by local experts Ron Howell and Patrick Harper, will take place in the water holes on JMR’s golf course, where plenty of rainbow trout have been stocked for the fabulous fly fishing jaunt.
However, if you prefer to stay inside, Shanti Yoga Studio is offering a series of free community yoga classes, called the Yoga Jubilee, on May 3. The classes run all day and are appropriate for all levels – a perfect way to start off your summer workout.
