Despite our recent "variable" weather, summer is soon upon us and we are getting ready.  Did you know that owning at Alpine Village gives you access to a luxury pontoon boat?  Our owners think having access to the lake without the hassle and expense of maintenance and upkeep is a great benefit to living at Alpine Village.

We are very excited to announce another summer of Outdoor Movie Nights on the Plaza at Alpine Village!  Our 3rd season features a mix of current release, action, comedy, classic and kid friendly films that make for a great way to spend Friday nights in McCall.  So plug these dates in to your calendar and we'll see you this summer!

Newest owner enjoying a lake cruise

Our weekly lake cruises aboard the Alpine Village pontoon boat started last week.  What great timing for our newest homeowner, Mr. John Asmus to be in McCall enjoying his new home at Alpine Village.  Welcome John!

2010 Outdoor Movie Nights!

Our 2010 Outdoor Movie Nights kicked off last Friday night and provided a great start to the 4th of July weekend.  Despite the chilly evening a hearty crowd showed up to watch Blind Side with Sandra Bullock.  Check our website, www.alpinevillagemccall.com for the full summer schedule of movies.  Summer temperatures are kicking in and will make for perfect evenings to enjoy a movie outside in the fresh mountain air.

Alpine Village pontoon boat launched for the season!

Despite the mountain showers that have lingered all week, we launched the Alpine Village pontoon boat and it is ready for action!  This luxury, 15 person beauty is a perfect way to spend an evening or all day on Payette Lake.  Did you know that ownership at Alpine Village comes with 5 days usage of the pontoon boat?  Nothing says summer in McCall like time on the lake.  We are hosting Wednesday evening lake cruises and can arrange for private, captained cruises or you can rent the boat all to yourself.  See you on the water!

Fishing...In McCall and abroad

Ok, I'll come clean.  I'm a fly fishing junkie.  I just returned from a trip to Belize where I caught my first Permit on a fly.  While this was without a doubt a trip of a lifetime, I'm extremely lucky to have access to great fishing in and around McCall.  High mountain lakes like Louie Lake, Brundage Reservoir and Pearl Lake provide scenic summer hikes into beautiful lakes with great Cutthroat and Rainbow trout fishing.  My kids have loved our walks up to Louie Lake, in the shadow of Jughandle Mountain, where we can spot the Cutthroat from the bank!  I've also become a big Steelhead fishing fan.  The famous Salmon River beckons a short 45 minute drive from McCall with some of the premier Steelhead and Salmon runs in the Northwest.  The photo attached was taken last fall on the Snake River just another hour and a half up the road.  And I don't want to forget the North Fork of the Payette River right outside of town.  There is a very good Drake hatch in June that remains very much under the radar.  If you're interested in scratching an itch to fish around McCall, give me a call, I'm always ready for a trip!

We are getting excited about our summer line up of activities at Alpine Village in McCall.  Check out our updated event calendar for this year's schedule of Open Air Movie Nights.  After great reviews in our inaugural season last year we're bringing back the tradition Friday nights on the plaza.  We are also thrilled to introduce Wednesday evening lake cruises for our residents and guests.  What better way to break up the week than enjoying a serene cruise on beautiful Payette Lake!

Celebrate Whitewater in Riggins this Weekend

Head to Riggins, Idaho this Saturday for the Bigwater Blowout Salmon River Festival -  a full day of fun that signals the start of another season of the best whitewater rafting in the country.  Local outfitters will be offering discounted trips on the Salmon. With great spring runoff, the rapids should be extra thrilling. It will be a great day in the park too, with live music, food vendors, a beer garden and a dutch oven cookoff.

McCall Makes Top List of Paddling Towns in the US

In the July/August issue of Paddler Magazine, McCall has made the list of the top 13 towns in the United States for kayaking.

Here is an excerpt from the article:

"McCall is at the top of the watershed for both the Main Salmon and the Payette Rivers, two absolute whitewater classics. Both can be accessed within an hour, depending on the run, and offer the entire spectrum of skill levels at different put0ins and take-outs."

Plus, we have some of the finest open-water kayaking and canoeing in Idaho along miles of beautiful Payette Lake shoreline.

Start of Summer Update

Summer has officially arrived and the season of fun McCall activities is in full swing. In the midst of budding flowers and the bevies of boats cruising across Payette Lake, the town is abuzz with all things summer. McCall recreation this time of year features many outdoor activities such as biking, boating, hiking and even mushroom-picking. Searching for gourmet morel mushrooms has become a favorite local pastime and this year McCall is teeming with them.

Warmer weather has also brought many changes for Alpine Village. Phase One is quickly taking shape and the transformation is amazing. We have begun attractive street improvements in front of the sales office, which will include landscaping and new sidewalks. Please come by the office at 3rd Street/Hwy 55 and Washington to see the scale model of the entire project’s planned streetscape.
